Alert Notification – Assault – Week of 9.06.09

Alert Notification – Assault, Property Damage

At approximately 7:30 PM during the week of September 6, 2009, a resident of an apartment on the 2600 block of Post, near King, was assaulted on the well-lit front porch of the building. At the time, the resident was using a laptop when an African-American male, possibly 18 years old, approached the victim and asked for change. The victim did not have any change and, upon learning of such, the assailant attempted to forcefully take possession of the laptop.

The victim regained possession of the laptop when the assailant punched the victim in the face, resulting in a bloody nose. The laptop was damaged in the process.

The victim did not call JSO; rather, JSO was emailed with an account of the incident and has not followed up with the victim.

Please be careful when resisting relinquishing control of property as these situations can quickly escalate and result in physical harm.

If you have any information regarding the assault, please contact JSO at 630-0500.
